Online Refresher Course

NHS Flu Vaccination Training

We provide up to date training for pharmacists and other healthcare professionals on administering flu vaccines to their patients.

NHS England has commissioned the flu vaccination service from community pharmacies since 2015. Due to the success of the service it is likely that it will be commissioned on an ongoing basis. It is therefore important that all pharmacists have adequate training and are competent to provide this service.

Our course is comprehensive and includes practical training on intramuscular (IM), subcutaneous (SC) and intradermal (ID) injection techniques. We also cover the use of intranasal flu vaccines during our course. In addition we provide practical training on basic life support and CPR, together with training and advice on the use of adrenaline for anaphylactic reactions. We comprehensively cover the NHS flu patient group direction (PGD) and service specification, so that delegates will have all of the information to deliver a safe and efficient service. After completing the course delegates will be able to use the NHS patient group direction (PGD) for the seasonal flu service. We will provide information on private PGD's for those that require it.

IMPORTANT - NHS Training Requirements

The NHS PGD requires pharmacists to attend a face-to-face training session at least every two years. The Health Protection Agency recommends that health care professionals should attend an update every year. We therefore provide two courses, one which provides online learning + a face-to-face practical training workshop, and the other which is an ' online refresher course'. Our courses are designed to ensure that pharmacists keep up to date with the important changes to the NHS service in the most convenient manner.

We hold face-to-face training workshops in
London, Leicester, Manchester & Bristol.

We will again be holding the flu jab training workshop at  Pharmacy Show 2018 - click here to book your place
